Luxury boat charter day trip to Racha Yai and Racha Noi
Tuesday, November 26, 2013
The weather turned out great and we had bright sunshine and clear skies for the day, the Andaman was a beautiful azure blue and really calm so the cruise promised to be amazing.
The transport We organised to collect Marc and the gang from their villa in Kalim met them at 8:30 am and brought them to Chalong where the charter catamaran Escape Artist departs from. After gettingn them settled and introduced to the boat and crew we cast off and headed out on the day charter cruise to the Racha Islands.
The cruise over to Racha Yai the first destination was very clam and the gang explored the boat and settled in for a great day, they enjoyed the fresh fruit and snacks we put out fo rthem as well as made a start on the a few cold beers. We set up their I Pod, got the playlist cranking out the tunes through the rear and upper deck lounge area speakers and started to enjoy the trip.
It was very hot so I thought we would make a quick stop at Bungalow bay which is the main beach on racha yai and has a lovely mooring spot for snorkeling and swimming. They jumped in and checked out the reef and fish life as well as enjoying a refreshing swim. After about 30 minutes we headed off to our main destination a private beach at the southern point of Racha Noi... normally deserted and peaceful a great destination.
On arriving we had the entire island to ourself, we moored up in crystal clear blue waters, the sun reflecting off the ocean and the white beach completely ours for the day, perfection! The guys couldnt wait for us to drop down the dinghy to take them over to the beach and some of them kitted up in the snorkeling equipment and swam over to the island.
While they were exploring we started to prepare the lunch on board - a massaman curry, spicy Thai soup with seafood, sweet and sour pork and vegetables, mixed vegetable and seafood stir fry and rice. All of this was ready and waiting for the guys and girls once they got back on board. After eating their fill and enjoying a few beers/ glasses of wine people went off to relax, sunbathe and swim for a while.
I suggested that we move on and try our hand at some game fishing for Tuna, Dorado and Mackerel on the way to the next destination, unfortunately we didnt catch any this time - thats why its called fishing and not catching :O)
At the next island Racha Yai, we moored up for more swimming and a little snorkeling and a lot of the group headed over to the island to do some exploring. There is a path that heads inland from the beach and takes you up over the center of the island to the other side, down into a beautiful beacha nd the 5 star resort, where there is an amazing ice cream shop! Its always worth stopping there to cool down and the journey back brings you past a few local bars where you can 'rehydrate' with a beer or two.
Once everyone was back on board it was time to head back to chalong, on the way we cruised past some of the other islands in the area while the sun set over the ocean, just in time for us to arrive back to chalong where the transport was ready to take Marc and the group back to their resort for a well deserved rest before heading out to party!
It was a great day and once made even better with wonderful company, a big thanks to marc and his friends for joining us!
